Würth Electronics Launches WCAP-FTDB DC Link Capacitors

Würth Electronics presents a new series of film capacitors specially designed for DC link applications. WCAP-FTDB series components are available in the 500 to 1200 V voltage range and feature high ripple current capability. They are therefore particularly suitable for AC/DC and DC/DC converters used in charging systems and power electronics in electric vehicles or renewable energy solutions. The product family consists of 24 models with capacitance values from 1 μF to 75 μF.

These capacitors can be used to stabilize DC link voltages, and they are very robust and reliable. Due to their metallized polypropylene film design, they are self-healing, and in the event of a short-circuit, they can "burn off" the part of themselves that caused the short-circuit, thus restoring the dielectric integrity. The WCAP-FTDB series is significantly more durable than other types of capacitors and is suitable for applications with long maintenance intervals, such as wind turbines. Würth Electronics offers boxed THT packages with 27.5 mm, 37.5 mm and 52.5 mm pitch for this component family. The film capacitors have an operating temperature range of -40°C to 105°C, corresponding to an operating temperature of up to 85°C at maximum voltage.
