High Precision Lithium Battery Charging Chip--HL7040C
(hereinafter referred to as "Hidi Micro"), one of the leading analog chip makers in China, announced the launch of HL7040C, a highly integrated, high precision, small-size (2x2mm) single-cell Li-ion battery linear charging chip.
The HL7040C is a Li-ion battery charge management chip for MP3 players, PDAs, GPS positioning products, small communication devices, etc. It can be powered by a USB port or an adapter, making it ideal for portable applications. The HL7040C chip also has a full range of safety features, including support for the JEITA charging standard, over-voltage protection, dynamic input voltage regulation, safety timer and ISET short-circuit protection, etc. The HL7040C chip is ideally suited for charging small capacity single-cell Li-ion and Li-polymer batteries. The HL7040C chip is ideal for charging small capacity single-cell Li-ion and Li-polymer batteries.
The HL7040C battery charging process is divided into three stages; the pre-charge stage allows over-discharged batteries to return to normal and safe charging, the rapid constant-current charging stage provides fast and reliable step-down charging, and the constant-voltage charging stage safely fills the battery. During all charging stages, the internal control loop monitors the chip's junction temperature and reduces the charging current when the chip's junction temperature exceeds a threshold, realizing protection for the battery and the overall circuitry. In addition, the HL7040C's pre-charge current, cut-off current threshold, and fast-charge current can all be programmed and set via external resistors.
