RECOM Introduces 36-160VDC Input DC/DC Converter for Railroad Applications
RECOM introduces the cost-effective RPxx-RAW family of products ideally suited for railroad applications or as isolated auxiliary power supplies in applications requiring a wide input voltage range. The 36-160VDC input range is suitable for applications with nominal input voltages of 72V, 96V or 110V, with extreme input voltages of up to 200V (1 sec).
Offering single outputs of 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V, 24V as well as dual outputs of +/-5V, +/-12V, and +/-15V, the RP03-RAW series is rated at 3W, the RP06-RAW at 6W, and the RP10-RAW at 10W.The series are available in a general purpose through-hole pinout as well as the DIP24 industry-standard package with dimensions of: 31.8mm (L) x 20.3mm (W) x 10.6mm (H).
The RPxx-RAW series utilizes advanced topology circuits and thermal design techniques to achieve high efficiency and low temperature rise for full load operation without derating in high temperature natural convection environments with high temperature derating temperatures of 90°C, 85°C, and 75°C for 3W, 6W, and 10W, respectively, and operating temperatures of up to 105°C with derating or forced cooling of the load. The RPxx-RAW series is fully protected against over-temperature, input under-voltage, output short-circuit, and overload, and also offers ON/OFF control to allow the converter to enter a low-power standby mode.
The RPxx-RAW series features 3kVAC enhanced isolation and is certified for multimedia and IT applications according to EN50155 for railroad applications as well as IEC/EN/UL62368 and Canadian equivalents. No external components are required to meet the EMC standard EN55032 Class A specification, or Class B with the addition of three small external capacitors.
The series is also suitable for general applications requiring higher DC input in harsh environments, such as IoT sensors, battery management systems and electric forklifts.
