High performance optical transmission network clock converter ZL30169
The high-performance Optical Transport Network (OTN) clock converter ZL30169 released by Microsemi Corporation fully complies with the ITU-T G.8251 standard to ensure interoperability and satisfactory network performance. The ultra-small ZL30169 supports three inputs and three outputs, and can realize arbitrary frequency conversion between input and output ports. It provides industry-leading 250fs RMS output jitter performance and is suitable for 100G coherent optical networks.
The ZL30169 integrates a digital phase-locked loop (DPLL), an analog phase-locked loop (APLL) and EEPROM in an ultra-small 5x5mm 32-pin QFN package. APLL can be programmed to output an ultra-low jitter clock with any frequency from 1Hz to 1035MHz, which is the first clock product in the industry to support such a wide range of output. The DPLL has a programmable loop bandwidth from 14Hz to 500Hz, supports any frequency input from 1kHz to 1250MHz, and supports seamless switching, hold and filter functions. The EEPROM supports automatic configuration of the device at power-up. ZL30169 supports dynamic rate conversion of forward error correction during OTN transmission and handover. The ZL30169 device can meet all the jitter and wander requirements specified in the ITU-T G.8251 recommendation to ensure satisfactory network performance.
The ZL30169 device also supports the numerically controlled oscillator (NCO) mode, the system software can control the output frequency with a very high resolution (better than 0.01ppb), this function is to use FPGA to design its own Mapper to replace the expensive large fixed frequency voltage control Oscillators (VCXO) provide customers with a cost-effective solution.
