Excelitas Technologies Introduces Enhanced CIPRM Series Balanced Receivers
Excelitas Technologies recently introduced an enhanced CIPRM-coherent InGaAs PIN balanced receiver module. The upgraded CIPRM incorporates two low-noise photodiodes with closely matched responsivity to ensure a high common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) of 30dB, and a redesigned housing to enhance electromagnetic immunity and improve signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).
This enhanced product's high-performance InGaAs photodiode and low-noise, high-gain transimpedance amplifier provide a practical solution for detecting small changes in the incident optical signal above the interfering noise floor, with the advantage of canceling out common optical noise . CIPRM modules come in a rugged housing with flange mounting holes to secure the module to a work surface or platform. Combined with a large operating temperature range, the CIPRM can operate in the toughest and harshest environments, such as wind lidar applications.
The upgraded CIPRM has two optical inputs (single-mode fiber in -1 size and FC connector in -2 size), an RF output, as well as power input and two photocurrent monitoring outputs. Excelitas range of optically balanced receiver modules has been designed and manufactured in full compliance with EU RoHS Directive 2015/863/EU.
“The Excelitas low-light detection module meets the requirements of a wide range of wind lidar, analytics, life sciences and biomedical applications,” said Richard Simons, product manager for low-light detection at Excelitas. "These features of the latest upgrades to the CIPRM series of balanced optical receivers complete our offering, making them ideal for engineers working with coherent detection techniques in harsh environments."
