Vishay Introduces FRED Pt Fifth Generation 600 V Hyperfast Recovery Rectifiers

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announces the introduction of four new FRED Pt® fifth generation 600 V Hyperfast recovery rectifiers in the TO-220 FullPAK 2L fully isolated package - the 12 A VS-E5TW1206FP-N3 and VS-E5TX1206FP-N3 and the 15 A VS-E5TW1506FP-N3 and VS-E5TX1506FP-N3. This series of rectifiers achieves state-of-the-art reverse recovery performance and improves the efficiency of IF inverters and soft and hard switching or resonant circuits.


Vishay Semiconductors has released devices with 60 percent lower reverse recovery charge (Qrr) than the previous generation of solutions and 90 percent lower recovery loss. In addition, the rectifier reverse recovery energy (Erec) is 10 percent higher than the closest competitor, and the soft recovery contributes to lower EMI and more stable operation over the full operating temperature range, resulting in improved thermal performance.


With the latest introduction of the 5th generation 600 V FRED Pt series rectifiers, Vishay extends the benefits of high-end Si technology to different circuit topologies, including conventional and bridgeless power factor correction (PFC) front-end configurations. The devices can be used as AC/DC and DC/DC power stage outputs and PFC rectifiers for industrial applications in air conditioning, non-vehicle chargers, lighting, hybrid solar inverters, and UPSs, ensuring system reliability and stability without compromising performance.


The VS-E5TW1206FP-N3, VS-E5TX1206FP-N3, VS-E5TW1506FP-N3, and VS-E5TX1506FP-N3 are available in both X-type and the new W-type speed types. For CCM modes up to 100k Hz and resonant circuits with low di/dt at 350K Hz, the W-type rectifiers have the advantage of low Qrr and the X-type rectifiers have the advantage of low forward voltage. The devices are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, operate at temperatures up to +175 °C, and have an insulation voltage of 2500 V. The devices are available in a wide range of sizes.
