Southco Introduces New Universal Door Lock Sensor

July 26, 2023 - Southco, the world's leading supplier of engineered hardware solutions, recently launched a universal door lock sensor designed to enhance cabinet security and enable continuous door lock monitoring and management.

Southco's Universal Door Lock Sensor is a simple magnet that attaches to an existing door lock, and a sensor with a magnet that attaches to the inside of an existing door frame. When the door panel is closed and the door lock is locked, the magnet moves closer to the sensor, which sends an electronic signal to the security system, reminding the door panel that it is closed and the door lock is securely locked.

The door lock sensor and signal can be sent through various channels such as plugging into the security system or activating existing light fixtures in the cabinet. In many current industrial applications, the door lock sensor can be perfectly integrated with it, so as to achieve more reliable door lock monitoring status. Even though the door is unlocked, it is still possible for the door sensor to return a "closed" signal. The door lock sensor successfully monitors and manages the door lock, allowing users to know the closing and locking of the door panel.

Users can use the sensor to activate an indicator light on the dashboard when the door lock is open, or interior lighting as an activation signal to illuminate the interior or other storage space before the cabinet door hinge moves. Southco also offers sensors with built-in LED lights that automatically turn on when the door is unlocked, eliminating the need for additional lighting in tight spaces.
