5121 IEC C14 Appliances with Outlet Filters
Shutter has introduced a new line of very compact filters including the 5121 Appliance Outlet Filter. The IEC C14 socket is surrounded by a sealed metal casing, thus effectively shielding the mains socket. The new filter series is available in versions for standard or medical technology applications with rated currents up to 10A/15A and equipped with wire connections.
Power outlets are often critical openings in appliance enclosures where interference enters or leaves the appliance enclosure through the power cord or radiates interference from this opening. The new 5121 Appliance Outlet Filter series, offers a very compact solution to prevent interference.

The new filter series is especially suitable for applications where very small installation depths are required and high-frequency filtering of power outlets is required. The 5121 Appliance Outlet Filter reliably shields high-frequency interference conducted or radiated via cables thanks to fully enclosed metal shields and capacitors. Interference in the lower frequency range can be reliably attenuated by additional capacitors and chokes on the PCB. Especially interference in the low frequency range <10 MHz, which is mainly conducted through cables; this means that filter parts do not have to be installed at the mains socket, and can simply be placed on the printed circuit board. Shutter offers a wide range of current compensation and linear chokes for this purpose. Typical applications include medical, laboratory, audio and video equipment, and industrial systems.
Various installation types
The new filter series offers three mounting types: screw-mounted from the front with a plastic flange, screw-mounted with a metal flange from the front or rear, and snap-mounted from the front. Thanks to the wide metal flange pieces, all types ensure optimum electrical contact of the mounting panel. Hermetic filter housings serve as optimal shielding for power outlets.

The 5121 Series is certified for 10A/250VAC current applications per IEC and 15A current applications per UL/CSA. This series of products has obtained ENEC, CQC and cURus certification.
