In March 2022, Murata will begin construction of a new plant at the Iwami Plant (Hogan). The purpose of this new plant is to build a system that can cope with the increase in demand for multilayer ceramic capacitors in the medium and long term. The new MLCC plant was completed in April 2023 with an investment of approximately 12 billion yen. The new plant has a total floor area of 22,120 square meters and a construction area of 6,314 square meters, and its main purpose is to produce multilayer ceramic capacitors.

Murata's consolidated financial results for April to June 2023, announced on July 31, showed a 34% year-on-year decrease in net profit to 50 billion yen. Profit declined for five consecutive quarters due to the impact of low global demand for smartphones.
