The features of new 3300V IGBT module gate driver
Power Integrations today introduced a new single-channel plug-and-play gate driver for IHM and IHV IGBT modules up to 3300V with a size of 190mmx140mm. The 1SP0635V2A0D combines Power Integrations' proven SCALE-2™ switching performance and protection features with a configurable isolated serial output interface for enhanced driver programming flexibility and comprehensive telemetry reporting for accurate lifetime estimate
It integrates multiple detection circuits including temperature, device and bus status information, which can simplify system design and enhance observability, control and reliability. Applications include rail traction inverters, power grids and medium voltage drives
Thorsten Schmidt, Product Marketing Manager at Power Integrations, said: “The serial status output protocol contains critical real-time measurements that facilitate advanced operational verification and significantly improve overall visibility into inverter health, reliability and efficiency. Engineers can Standard plug-and-play protocols for tuning monitoring and control systems, or ask PI engineers for custom tuning during the project development phase.”
The telemetry data provided by the 1SP0635V2A0D gate driver includes accurate temperature measurement, which simplifies temperature rise management and eliminates the need for an external temperature sensor. In addition, the DC bus voltage measurement function is integrated, which can reduce external circuits and reduce system complexity and cost. Closed-loop gate voltage, gate state, and short-circuit monitoring ensure the module operates within programmed limits, improving efficiency and avoiding critical failures.
Additional features include condition monitoring of the fiber optic interface to ensure proper reception of switching commands. Likewise, gate monitoring ensures that switching commands have been executed correctly and that the power module is in the proper operating state. Short-circuit monitoring provides precise control and instructs the gate driver to respond appropriately in the event of a short circuit.
