ON Semiconductor supplies high-performance EliteSiC technology while maintaining the high standards of quality, reliability and supply stability required by the electric vehicle main drive market. ON Semiconductor has decades of experience designing, developing and manufacturing power semiconductor products that have been proven in high-volume automotive applications.
First and foremost, ON Semiconductor's continued strategic investment in accelerating SiC capacity throughout its end-to-end supply chain gives us the confidence that we will be able to meet the market's growing demand for our solutions now and in the future," said Stefan Demmerle, vice president, president and general manager of powertrain systems at BorgWarner. "
BorgWarner's SiC main drive inverters offer higher energy efficiency, better cooling performance, faster charging speeds and more compact and smaller packages than other comparable solutions. By utilizing EliteSiC technology in its solutions, BorgWarner will benefit from higher power density and energy efficiency to increase EV range and improve overall performance.
Integrating EliteSiC technology in the main drive inverter increases the miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) of gasoline, which helps alleviate range anxiety - one of the major barriers to wider adoption of electric vehicles," said Simon Keeton, executive vice president and general manager of ON Semiconductor's Power Solutions Business Group. ON Semiconductor can provide support from the chip to the system level, with a proven track record of past execution, to deliver BorgWarner's industry-leading SiC-based solutions faster to match its product launch needs."
