MagikEye Introduces Pico Image Sensor

2023-12-28 10:07:54

Magik Eye Inc. (www.magik-eye.com), a pioneer in 3D sensing technology, will showcase its groundbreaking Pico Depth Sensor at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. With a mission to "provide the eye of artificial intelligence for the robotics era," the Pico Depth Sensor is a key milestone in MagikEye's journey toward excellence in artificial intelligence and robotics.

The Pico Depth Sensor is innovative in that it utilizes MagikEye's proprietary Invertible Light Technology (ILT). This technology runs efficiently on the "bare metal" ARM M0 processor in the Raspberry Pi RP2040. This remarkable feature highlights the sensor's ability to provide high-quality 3D sensing without the need for a dedicated chip. In addition, while the Pico Sensor uses the RP2040 to demonstrate its capabilities, the underlying technology has been designed to be adaptable, allowing it to run on a wide range of microcontrollers including those based upon the popular RISC V architecture. This flexibility marks a significant leap forward in the accessibility and adaptability of advanced 3D sensing across different platforms.

Takeo Miyazawa, Founder and CEO of MagikEye, emphasized the transformative potential of the sensor, stating, "Just as the personal computer made technology ubiquitous and drove a revolution in productivity, the Pico Depth Sensor is poised to spark a similar transformation in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics. It's not just an innovative product, it's a gateway to new horizons in self-driving cars, smart home systems and more. In these areas, AI and depth sensing will converge to create smarter, more intuitive solutions."
